The upper part is a tiered waterfall divided into several levels, while the lower part falls at once through a narrow crevice in the rock surface. The total drop is 70 meters. The trail involves entering the mountain from the Mt. Misen hiking route, traveling up along the Misen River, and then climbing a rock ridge called Ura-Somon. The high ground reached after the climb is commonly known as the Somon Falls Terrace, from where one can see a distant view of the waterfall. Generally, there is no public route that leads directly to the bottom of the waterfall. It can also be seen from a great distance when looking towards Misen from the summit of Mt. Kannonmine, which is slightly to the north.
