Sannenzaka, or Sannen-zaka (三年坂), is a stone-paved pedestrian road and tourist attraction in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto, Japan. The two roads lead to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Kodaiji Temple and Yasaka-jinjia Shrine, which are a few famous sights in Kyoto. Gojo Shinmachi is the name of an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings located in the vicinity of Gojo Shinmachi Street (Ise Kaido) in Gojo City, Nara Prefecture. Originating as a castle town, the district was developed after Shigemasa Matsukura, a retainer of the Tsutsui clan, was appointed lord of Futami Castle in 1608 and governed Gojo and Sue. The new town, formed between Gojo and Futami, consisted of East, Central, and West towns. By 1623, it already had approximately 95 houses, a streetscape not significantly different from the current 110 houses. Currently, 143 out of 330 buildings in the district are identified as traditional structures.

Yamachosuji is the name of a townscape in the central part of Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, where many traditional buildings remain. 'Yamacho' refers to the merchant towns that developed along the old Hokuriku Road in the Takaoka castle town, and specifically designates the 10 towns that possess the 'Mikurumayama' floats for the Takaoka Mikurumayama Festival. The Mikurumayama are imperial carriages once used by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, which were given to the townspeople by Toshinaga Maeda and subsequently modified by each town. After a major fire destroyed most of the town in the Meiji era, fire-resistant buildings with earthen walls (dozo-zukuri) were constructed based on Toyama Prefecture regulations, many of which still stand today.
